NOTD: Inglot #825 & Dare to Wear Silhouette – fail

First and foremost, I’m out of acetone!!!  WAHGG!  As you might imagine, this makes clean up a little less nice and neat.  I want to apologize ahead of time for the major gap between polish and cuticle.  I tried using plain ole nail polish remover and a precision tip Q-tip and it just ain’t the same.

Yesterday, Rita and I were tweeting about our nail polish collections.  She asked me how many I had sitting around that haven’t been worn yet.  I pulled out the ones I don’t remember ever using.. and applied these two to show them some lovin’!

Overall, this NOTD is a bit of a bust.

I have mixed feelings about this Inglot polish.. it shows the ridge in my nails and has this sort of shimmery look that reminds me of 90′s press on nails.  It applied nicely though.  I wish it had a name, like all Inglot products.. they’re just numbered.  #825 Bumm.  Ana got it for me, so I don’t mean to hate on it but I always do my best to be honest.

The Dare to Wear color in Silhouette (I picked it up at a local beauty supply when I lived in Chicago) is fantastic!  I might layer it over an opaque super light baby pink next time, gorgeous and subtle with the rainbow fleck.

NOTD: Orly, Purple Pleather

Wowzas, this is quite the unique texture!  I don’t think there could have been a more appropriate name for this color. Orly hit the nail on the head with “Purple Pleather”, just look at it!  It’s so rubberized and plastic looking, and just plain..erhm, weird.

I want to say this was considered a “satin” finish when the Plastix collection came out last summer.  I’m not really feeling it.  The polish dried down pretty thin after two coats.. and not being able to throw on a top coat without losing that effect, this one is meh for me.  Why didn’t I think to try it with a top coat then?  I really don’t know, lol!  I think I will next time, when I swatch Retro Red.. stay tuned ladies!  Some OPI Miss Universe swatches are in your future.

NOTD: Orly, It’s Up To Blue

This type of color always reminds me of a dear friend of mine (Erinface!).  She wore it on her toes during our high school years and I can’t wear metallic turquoise without thinking of her!  Has that happened to you, any specific color brings back memories?

Orly It’s Up To Blue is stunning, a perfect pool blue that’s slightly metallic but not frosty at all.  The imperfections in my nails show up a bit more in this image than they do in real life.  This is 2 easy coats.

p.s. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll have heard that I spotted this at CVS today!  It should still be easy to get your hands on.

NOTD: Essie, California Coral

Today’s NOTD post is Essie’s California Coral.  While taking pictures of it, I realized the color reminded me of a favorite lipstick color in my collection!  Maybelline has a lipstick called “Cool Watermelon” that is absolutely vibrant and glossy.  It is discontinued in the states but easy to find through Ebay, etc.  This is 2 coats of polish- a nice coral but nothing jaw-dropping in my opinion.  Xo!

BACK! Gussied Up Green, Gorgeouz China Glaze

I didn’t mean to wear this one as a full manicure, but after swatching on 4 nails I had to continue.  What is it in this green that made me not want to take it off?  ..especially in the midst of summer?  Who knows but I love it!  China Glaze’s (Fall 2008) Gussied Up Green is a must have for a rich green with a bit of warmth.

I’m back from Montreal!  I’m so sorry I didn’t plan accordingly and post while I was away.  I’m back, I hope you’re still there.  Heartcha xo

Night Sky Mani, I’m in love!

Hi all!  If you follow me on twitter - you may have read I’ve recently received some new bling!!  I wanted to make sure I had an absolutely stunning manicure to go along with my new jewels.

I started off with Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Dead Calm polish.  What’s pictured here is one layer of opaque goodness.  Absolutely fantastic formula (and I’ve had this polish a number of years at this point..).  I reviewed Stormy not long ago- and found that the formula was JUST as amazing.  I don’t know how Ji Baek does it! The only other RBL polish I own is Concrete Jungle- which I’ll have to swatch for you in the future.  That was my pride and joy when grey was the thing.

After waiting a moment for Dead Calm to dry, I layered a medium coat of Finger Paint’s Easel-y Entertained.  WHAT. This picture does no justice, it’s honestly a tad more purple-y and so dynamic.  It has so much depth, it’s STUNNING.  This has got to be on my top 10 nail polish combos of all time!!!  So happy. (p.s. the bottom picture is with a coat of Seche Vite a-top) UPDATE: This manicure lasted until the moment I scrubbed it off.. though it didn’t stay quite as shiny as I’d like, it was really pretty.  UPDATE #2, PAIN in the rear end to remove!  Dark navy all over my finger tips among the general issues glitter provide.

A GORGEOUS Essie polish, def in my Top 10! (Turquoise & Caicos)

Guys.  Essie’s Turquoise & Caicos (2010 Resort Collection) was a hidden gem in my stash.. I had no idea how much I’d absolutely adore it on the nail!  This squishy, jelly finish turquoise color is absolutely fantastic.  I love the feel of it, the color is stunning.  It’s calm, not too vibrant- though really colorful and fun to wear! It feels so beachy to me. I feel like I saw it all over the place and never understood the pull, but wowzahs, me loves!

That’s a tiny image of my parents wedding.. they were leaving the church and ducking under the rice being thrown.  I think it’s adorable, and it makes me happy so I wanted to include it.  <3

*this image was taken on day 3 of wear.

NOTD: China Glaze, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini

Now HERE is a yellow I can get excited about!  If you saw my post on China Glaze’s Solar Power, you’ll know I’m not a huge fan of all versions of the color (on finger nails, at least). But this color.. was a pain in the ass!  I forgive it though, it’s highliter yellow!!!  So awesome and bright and summery.  So what if it took 6 coats and still wasn’t opaque- at least neons dry quickly so it didn’t take up too much of my evening :) Love Love Love, love love love! #extendingthelovefest

What’s the on the ring finger, you ask?  A layer of China Glaze’s White Cap.  One of my new favorite polishes to layer.

p.s. if you have shorter nails, the visible nail line will be obviously less visible- so keep that in mind.  Next time I wear this color, I will try layering over white.
