Rimmel Vinyl Gloss- Don’t Forget About Me

Vinyl Gloss, Mirror Shine Lipgloss. These are on the outs,  but they sing to you..

Don’t you.. dun dun.. forget about me! Doo! Don’t don’t don’t don’t.  Don’t you, forget about me! Doo!

I’m a nerd.  I can’t stop singing that song from The Breakfast Club when I think about these glosses.  Sure they are discontinued but I’ve learned something.  Some Ulta’s still have them in their inventory- and if you’re a reader outside of the states, your drugstore that carries Rimmel might have a ton of these left!  They might not be discontinued on your end.  So I must mention them.  These glosses are fabulous.  So smooth and not sticky, let me repeat, SO SMOOTH and not sticky!  Gorgeous colors, great color payoff- a variety of shades.  A lovely product.  I picked up a light pink a while back but that’s been gifted to a friend.. The colors shown here are:

Snog

East End Snob

Delirious

Love!

And here’s the video, Don’t You Forget About Me by Simple Mind:

A Yellow Kitty Story: Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure

Last night, while watching The Amazing Race (hubs and I are always a bit behind with TV, the show aired last Sunday!) I decided to try out Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure nail polish in Yellow Kitty.  I <3 banana yellows. The concept is simple; a base coat, nail lacquer, top coat in one.  I figure this type of polish could be a formula perfect for travel, no need for the base/top coat steps- less bottles, less to pack, etc. Let’s do it!

First off, THAT BRUSH!  Look at that perfection.  Glides on like butter, and doesn’t have weird square edges. It’s slightly rounded on both sides. This fit the base of my nail like it was made for my nail beds.  I actually got Jewel’s hit single from 1996 in my head- which I hadn’t thought about in years.  I used to love that tune!

After 2 thin coats, I noticed it was still quite see-thru (as pictured to the left).  The polish wasn’t completely translucent, but the streaks were apparent. This tends to be the case for a lot of yellow polishes though I’m not so sure why. I can’t fault the Sally Hansen line but it’s something to note.  Yellow Kitty required 4 thin coats.

About 30 minutes after finishing my new manicure, I laid down to sleep.  As you may have noticed, I paint my nails ALL the time!  Painting my nails a half hour before bed isn’t that unusual.  I fall asleep with my hands in a position where they aren’t smooshed between blankets- I wake up, and voila! I’m ready to go.  My polish is perfectly dried and UNsmudged.  That is, until last night. Dang it Sally Hansen’s Yellow Kitty!

The final picture was taken this morning.   There’s still some shine to the manicure but the blotchy blanket marks bugged me all day! The good news is- I had little to no tip wear. The bad news is- after less than 24 hours, I can’t stand to look at it anymore.  Yellow Kitty, you’re so sloppy!  I’m removing you and replacing you with Sally Hansen’s Fairy Teal immediately.  Stay tuned for pics loves.

*edit: another bonus of using one polish- the removal was a piece of cake!  No waiting to soak thru additional layers.

What did I think of Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure in Fairy Teal? Check it!

Yesterdays Hot Pink/Purple Lips

For those who were wondering what I was wearing on my lips in yesterdays video (New nail polish goodies!!)- wonder no longer.

There aren’t a TON of occasions in my life where wearing purple lipstick is 100% appropriate..  I feel like the little sister at work sometimes (my job is bigger than me, I’m beginning to have a complex, lol).  But chatting to my favorite subscribers about colorful beauty products?  I consider that the perfect opportunity to bust out the brights.  I had on a light wash of Cover Girl Lip Perfection lipstick in ‘Divine’ with a layer of Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush lipgloss in ‘Tiny Bubbles’ on top.

Reader BEWARE:  This stuff stains. You can almost treat it as a stain rather than a lipstick.  Swipe on a bit, blot it off, layer it with clear gloss and your lips be poppin’!  Where does this comeeee from???
