NOTD: Essie, California Coral

Today’s NOTD post is Essie’s California Coral.  While taking pictures of it, I realized the color reminded me of a favorite lipstick color in my collection!  Maybelline has a lipstick called “Cool Watermelon” that is absolutely vibrant and glossy.  It is discontinued in the states but easy to find through Ebay, etc.  This is 2 coats of polish- a nice coral but nothing jaw-dropping in my opinion.  Xo!

Pink Wednesday, China Doll essie

Today’s Pink Wednesday manicure is Essie’s China Doll.  The first image shown is after two coats of polish. It came out a bit sheerer than I had anticipated though the visible nail line was less apparent in person!  The next picture with my square little necklace charm from Montreal is after 3 coats of China Doll.  This one is a bit metallic and slightly old fashioned looking but the color is still  vibrant and lovely.

Of course I couldn’t stop there!  Thought, might as well throw on some white crackle!  I actually really like how the two work together :)  Happy PW and ttys!

CG Pool Party! Summa hot HOT pinks!

For my Pink Wednesday manicure this week, I decided to mix up a little somethin’ somethin’- okay so I didn’t actually mix anything but I layered!

First off was China Glaze Pool Party.  This stuff is seriously neon (why is it showing so orange, I’m not too sure!), and being so neon, it has some apparent flaws- it’s matte (maybe a flaw?) and it chips (definitely a flaw).  I decided to layer a nice bright pink jelly formula (Essie Movers & Shakers, which I have previously reviewed here) on top!  I love how the neon factor shines through:)  Very juicy watermelon pink.  Perfect for summer. It’s on my toes too, I love it!  xo

A GORGEOUS Essie polish, def in my Top 10! (Turquoise & Caicos)

Guys.  Essie’s Turquoise & Caicos (2010 Resort Collection) was a hidden gem in my stash.. I had no idea how much I’d absolutely adore it on the nail!  This squishy, jelly finish turquoise color is absolutely fantastic.  I love the feel of it, the color is stunning.  It’s calm, not too vibrant- though really colorful and fun to wear! It feels so beachy to me. I feel like I saw it all over the place and never understood the pull, but wowzahs, me loves!

That’s a tiny image of my parents wedding.. they were leaving the church and ducking under the rice being thrown.  I think it’s adorable, and it makes me happy so I wanted to include it.  <3

*this image was taken on day 3 of wear.

Pink Wednesday Post, Love!

Aw, my first Pink Wednesday post.  If you aren’t familiar, go watch Mean Girls and you’ll understand where the inspiration came from:)  From what I think I know (ha!), a group of ladies created a blog roll of nail bloggers who all come together and create different pink mani’s for the middle of the week.  Since I don’t have ANY rhyme or reason to my blog, I thought I might as well throw in a little stability.

The base color pictured is China Glaze Endurance. I then stamped Bundle Monster plate 212 over the nails with Fancy Fuchsia by Orly.  (LOVE!) I wish it came out a bit more vibrant rather than pastel but the image was so thin, I’m happy it came out at all! After .3 seconds, the stamping was dry. I then took my trusty toothpick and dabbed some of Essies California Coral on the areas that needed a little boost. I’ve had only tiny amounts of practice with stamping, so I had to cover up the gaps with something!  Plus, the power went out mid stamp on my middle finger.  For realz. -_-  Ignore the smudge. :^)

Subtle Nail Art using Bundle Monster plates!

If you’ve seen my last video, you might have noticed I’ve picked up a set of Bundle Monster nail plates.  As far as I can tell, these are the much cheaper sister to the Konad plates.  If you’re not at all familiar, these little discs have images engraved onto them.  Cover the image you’re interested in with polish, scrape off the excess and stamp the image onto your nail.  That small paragraph wasn’t enough to be considered a tutorial by any means but you get my drift.

I had been wearing Essies Topless & Barefoot for a day or two and decided to change it up a bit.  If you’re stamping on top of a background color, make sure it’s completely dry or you might end up in a sticky situation.  I chose plate BM-223 with the Zebra image and BM-204 for the small flower image.  I used Essies Pearly White for the subtle but shimmery pearl Zebra print and American Apparels Butter for the small flower.

I love this look!  This sort of nail art is WAY more my speed for everyday wear.  I love how subtle it is, but unique and cute all at the same time.  Do you think this is a bit boring for you? Are you more into the contrast for a bit of bam-pow-attention-to-my-nails? Whatcha think?
