NARS Multiple, Portofino

So, I have 3 Multiples from NARS in my collection.  They have a great deal of flexibility and wearability (I believe they are the original multi-purpose makeup stick meant to be used on the face, lips, body and eyes.  Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that’s the story : )

Copacabana is a light shimmery champagne highlight color I use under the brow bone, on the cupids bow, on the tops of my cheeks and my collar bone.  South Beach is my go-to bronzer in the summer.  I like to layer it with powder bronzers to get an intense dewy- bronzey glow in the warmer months. Though meant to dry down to a powder finish, the glow created from the shimmer still looks dewy on my skin and layers well over everything and anything.

The Multiple pictured here is my “blush” multiple, a pinky golden coral shade that’s so flattering and easy.  Portofino is one of those products you can wear with or without a full face of makeup.  Put a bit on over a tinted moisturizer, and you’re in business.  Pat it over a long wearing foundation and it looks just as cohesive! Yay!

Now that it’s getting warmer, the sun is out again (finally!), it feels great to layer on something that looks sunny and healthy. I’m digging Portofino out from the bottom of my makeup drawer and using it for another spring/summer starting now.  I’m realizing they must not dry out very quickly, mine are still so workable after having them a very long time.

Beware these few things: If you aren’t into shimmer, be very careful as most (if not all?) are a bit sparkly.  They are also on the pricey side in my opinion, at $39.  Luckily they can double as a lip color/ cheek color / etc. in one- but it’s still a bit hefty for one product.

Keep an eye out for little Multiples in NARS gift sets around the holidays, etc. I promise you that those little baby versions will last you a really long time, and chances are, you still won’t run completely through it!  Enough now, tata. Thanks for reading.

NARS Sweet Charity Lip Lacquer

Today’s lip swatch is NARS Lip Lacquer in Sweet Charity.  I’ve had this pot gloss longer than I’d like to admit- but the kind of weird smell has been there since the day it became mine! I swear!

I’m actually on the fence with this color and formula.  Sweet Charity is my first and only of it’s kind in my collection.  I find it to be quite thick and sticky.  Though on the plus side, for that reason, it does last much longer than most glosses tend to.  It is a berry mauve lipstick-y gloss, with an odd gray cast (more obvious in real life).  I prefer to wear it on the sheerer side to let the natural pink of my lip balance it out some.  If you are more olive toned than I am,  you might have an easier time pulling it off.

Happy Spring! Favorite BRIGHT Lipstick & Combo

Hello, Spring!  In honor of such a wonderful  occasion, I bring to you, my absolutely favorite, shockingly bright lipstick. NARS Schiap is a semi-matte, nearly neon formula.  It glides on opaquely in one swipe.  I am a huge fan of the feel of the lipstick because it’s so smooth.  I’d love more, but the price tag is pretty high at $24- though I haven’t seen anything quite like this at the drugstore (yet)! As mentioned in previous NARS posts, the packaging always looks dusty and shows finger prints and makeup debris. That’s a real bummer, but the product’s great, so I live with it.

If Schiap alone isn’t vibrant enough for you, slap on a layer of Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush gloss in “Tiny Bubbles”.. it’s so sparkly and gorgeously pigmented.  My husband caught a glimpse of the swatching process and mentioned that my lips didn’t look real and it looked like neon paint.  So true!  I love it!  ..really, how could you not? This one is an attention getter, so be prepared!  Do you know of any lipsticks that scream spring, and or super bright? Divine, from Cover Girl comes to mind.. any others?  xo

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella

This is a product I need more of.  The Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are so wonderfully smooth.  They’re highly pigmented and glide on very nicely.  Cruella is extremely opaque with no effort- even after blotting with tissue, the color is intense.  It’s BOLD, not for the faint of heart!  This one lasts a good 4+ hours on me without feeling dry.

The con? NARS’ packaging is so.. unfortunate.  It catches every smudge and finger print, I really hate it.  Good thing they keep pumping out products that allow me to look past that massive flaw.  I saw they just came out with a Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil.  ..I want.

NARS Multiple, Copacabana

It’s March 1st today.  Spring still feels really far away and my skin is looking a little dull.  I’ve been reaching for highlighters to bring a bit of shimmer and glow to my skin- and make me look a little more alive.  One of my favorites is NARS Multiple in Copacabana.  It’s a cream stick formula that can be worn on multiple places on your body (or face)- hense the name of the product.  My tip is to warm it up with your fingertips and tap it on your cheekbones.  If you want it to look even MORE natural, place it on your skin before any foundation, powder or whatever.  LOVE it!  Do you guys own any multiples?  I have 3 in total..
